UPDATE 10/26/12 @ 6:40 p.m.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Stolen items have been recovered from a pawn shop and the owner is now in jail.

Kyle Thompson, 32, owns Cash for Gold and Loan on Washington Street West. He was arrested Friday afternoon and faces 32 counts of false reporting.

Police are weeding through all the stolen items and have already linked many of them to other crimes in the area.

“We're not gonna tolerate this type of business going on and victimizing the citizens of Charleston,” Charleston Police Sgt. Bobby Eggleton said.

Inside the shop, detectives found stolen items like laptops, cell phones and jewelry.

This came as a surprise for customers like Kimberly Walker.

“These people seemed like they were really sweet. They were really nice; they worked with you,” Walker said.

Walker used the shop often to sell things when in need of some fast cash.

“This one here's a bicycle, a weed eater, a Razor scooter, which is a little motorcycle, and a 32-inch flat screen television,” Walker said as she looked at her receipts. “I'm not gonna lose my stuff behind someone else's problems.”

WSAZ.com asked Thompson how customers can get their stuff back, but he didn’t answer.

Police say illegal business behind pawn shop doors is becoming far too common.

“Pawn shops out there taking this stolen stuff having shoddy practices," Eggleton said. "We're coming for you next. If you do a legitimate business, we'll help you. If you're not, we're not your help."

Police say if you've been robbed in the Charleston area during the past 30 days, give them a call. It's possible your things may have been taken to this pawn shop.

As for the future of this business, that's still unclear, but police are working with customers who have items there and want them back.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Charleston Police have raided a pawn shop on the city's west side.

Police responded to Cash 4 Gold and Loan at 1305 W. Washington Street Friday afternoon.

Charleston Police tell WSAZ.com an investigation uncovered 32 items weren't properly documented with police.

A city ordinance requires pawn shop owners to enter serial numbers, makes and models of anything brought through a pawn shop's door. If it's stolen, police would have a record of who pawned it and can make an arrest. Kanawha County has adopted a similar ordinance.

Kyle Thompson has been arrested during today's raid, according to investigators.

Charleston Police remain at the scene.
