UPDATE 11/9/12 @ 10:45 p.m.
PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Investigators have identified the body of a man found in the Kanawha River in Poca Friday afternoon.

They say Gregory Keith Tennant, 48, of St. Albans, was found near the Raymond City boat docks about 1 p.m. Two fishermen spotted the body while they were out on the water and called 911.

One of those fishermen was Jerry Webb of Lavalette, W.Va.

"It makes you want to cry," he said. "It's just something you have to live with if it happens."

Webb says he quickly alerted his friends out on the water with him, including Bill Morrison.

"I couldn't believe it," Morrison said. "The body had swelled up so big that it didn't really look like a body until I could see the heels on the shoes sticking out on the water. And then I knew that's what it was."

Putnam County Sheriff's deputies say Tennant was last seen in mid-October and had been recently living in several different shelters.

They say his body has been sent to the medical examiner for examination. They're not sure at this time whether any foul play was involved.
