UPDATE: Young Boy Hit by Car in Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- An eight-year-old boy was hit by a car while crossing South Park Road in Kanawha City.

According to police, the boy didn't look before stepping out in the street.

The car that hit the boy tried to swerve to miss him -- but couldn't get completely out of the way and the car's mirror hit the boy.

Police say the driver did everything he could to avoid the situation.

The little boy was taken to the hospital, but is expected to be okay.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A little boy has been hit by a car in Charleston.

The accident happened about 2:45 p.m. Friday in the 600-block of South Park Road.

Dispatchers say the eight-year-old boy was walking along the road when he was hit.

It's unclear how seriously he has been hurt.
