UPDATE: I-79 Reopens after Logging Truck Accident

UPDATE 8/22/12 @ 10:25 a.m.
MINK SHOALS, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- All lanes of I-79 are back open at the Mink Shoals exit in Kanawha County.

Deputies say a log truck overturned in the northbound lanes just after 5 a.m. Wednesday.

The logs spilled into the southbound lanes.

Two cars were hit by the logs. One driver had to be taken to the hospital.

MINK SHOALS, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- All lanes of I-79 are shut down near the Mink Shoals exit in Kanawha County.

The closure is due to a logging truck that crashed in the northbound lanes just after 5 a.m. Wednesday.

We’re told the accident happened when the trucks load shifted.

Some of the logs ended up in the southbound lanes after going over the concrete dividing wall. Several vehicles hit those logs.

One person was taken to the hospital.

The Kanawha County Sheriff's office says traffic is being diverted off the interstate at the Big Chimney and Mink Shoals exits.

PINCH, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Both north and southbound lanes of I-79 are shut down in Pinch at the Mink Shoals exit.

A Metro 911 dispatcher told WSAZ.com there's been an accident involving a logging truck and two other vehicles.

Medics are on scene but no one has been transported to the hospital.

The truck wrecked in the north bound lanes but the logs are spread out over the south bound lanes.

The Kanawha County Sheriff's office says traffic is being diverted away from the accident.

PINCH, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Both north and southbound lanes of I-79 are shut down in Pinch. This is at the Mink Shoals exit.

It was reported to Metro 911 at 5:04 a.m. Wednesday.

An emergency dispatcher told WSAZ.com a logging truck overturned. No word yet on possible injuries.

The Kanawha County Sheriff's office said traffic is being diverted away from the accident.

They're also urging drivers to take it slow and allow extra time to get to your destination.
