UPDATE: Semi Rolls Over and Catches Fire on W.Va. Turnpike

FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The driver of a tractor-trailer that overturned and caught fire Wednesday on the West Virginia Turnpike was taken to CAMC in Charleston with burns, but he's expected to survive, West Virginia State Police troopers say.

The crash, which happened about 4 p.m. Wednesday, halted traffic in both directions for hours. It occurred just past the Paint Creek exit in the southbound lanes.

Troopers say the driver was ejected from the semi. There's no word on what may have caused him to crash.

FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The driver of a tractor trailer has been taken to the hospital after a crash on the West Virginia Turnpike.

The crash happened in the southbound lanes just past the Paint Creek Exit about 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The northbound lanes of the interstate have reopened. The southbound lanes are expected to reopen shortly.

Police tell WSAZ.com, the driver of the truck lost control and rolled over and his truck caught on fire.

The driver was taken to the hospital. His name and condition have not been released.

FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A tractor trailer has rolled over and caught fire on the West Virginia Turnpike.

The crash happened in the southbound lanes just past the Paint Creek Exit about 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Dispatchers say both the north and southbound lanes are closed. Crews are diverting traffic off the interstate at the Paint Creek exit. Drivers are able to get right back on the highway using the on-ramp.

It is unclear if anyone has been hurt.
