UPDATE: Robbery Reported at Jefferson Motel

JEFFERSON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The Kanawha County Sheriff's Department is still investigating a robbery at the Jefferson Motel along MacCorkle Avenue in Jefferson.

The robbery was reported just after 9 a.m. Saturday at the motel.

According to a news release, a male wearing a dark gray sweatshirt and black ski mask entered in the office and hit the female clerk in the back of the head with an unknown object. Deputies say when she attempted to conceal the money, the man hit her again in the face with his elbow.

Then, the man ran toward South Charleston.

The clerk also told deputies the man was wearing "very white/clean tennis shoes."

The robbery was reported just after 9 a.m. Saturday at the motel in the 6200 block of MacCorkle Avenue SW in Jefferson.

The Kanawha County Sherrif's Department says a man with a ski mask barged into the motel office and hit the clerk in the head, knocking her unconscious.

Deputies say the man got away with about $1400.

They say the suspect was 6-feet tall, 180-190 pounds and was wearing a gray shirt and jeans.

They believe the man ran away toward South Charleston.

The clerk did not see a weapon on the suspect.
