FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. (AP) -- A preliminary hearing for a Fayetteville man charged with killing three people is on hold while he undergoes a mental examination.

Fayette County Magistrate Sharon McGraw on Tuesday granted the defense's request to continue the hearing for 83-year-old Howard Junior Curry.

Curry has been at William R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital in Weston since March 21. His attorney, Nancy Fraley, told McGraw that the evaluation has not yet been conducted.

Curry is charged with three counts of murder. Police allege that he fatally shot his wife, 47-year-old Rexanna Curry, her father, 82-year-old Charles Treadway, and her sister, 57-year-old Sheila Fay Miller, on March 17 at his house.

OAK HILL, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler has released the identities of the three people murdered Saturday at a home near Oak Hill.

Sheriff Kessler says Charles Treadway, Sheila Miller and Rexanna Curry were all shot and killed at the home on Toney Hollow Road. All three are related, according to the sheriff. .

Sheriff Kessler says Rexanna Curry is the wife of the suspected gunman, Howard Curry, who's now charged with three counts of murder.

Authorities say the shootings appear to have been domestic related, but so far, they've yet to figure out a motive.

OAK HILL, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A triple murder investigation is sending shockwaves throughout a small community.

"It's devastating to hear that," said Alfred Toney, neighbor. "I don't know, just, you didn't believe that. Hard to believe."

The Fayette County Sheriff's Department says three people were shot at a home on Toney Hollow number 2. Two women were pronounced dead at the scene. The third victim, a man who was found outside the home, trying to crawl to a neighbors for help. He later died at an area hospital.

"The individual that was still in the house was taken into custody," said Sheriff Steve Kessler, Fayette County.

That individual is Howard Curry, 83, who's now charged with three counts of murder. A crime that has now left deputies puzzled.

"We don't have any history of drugs at this home," said Sheriff Kessler. "Actually, we don't have a history of anything at this home. I checked with the other officers and we never responded to any calls here. We understand these people lived here for about seven years."

Alfred Toney has lived in this neighborhood for three years and said it's a quiet area and people normally keep to themselves.

"I never do see the people that much," said Toney. "They're just quiet like people. Stay to themselves."

But for now, this tragedy has neighbors talking, wondering how something like this could happen in their backyard.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Department hasn't identified any of the victims at this time. They also haven't given a motive.

Curry remains at the Southern Regional Jail.

OAK HILL, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- An 83-year-old man is behind bars after deputies say he shot and killed three people early Saturday.

Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies say Howard Junior Curry has been arrested and charged with three counts of murder. Curry is from Fayetteville.

Deputies say they found two women shot to death inside a home at 136 Toney Hollow Road near Oak Hill.

Another man had also been shot inside, and crawled to a neighbor's porch for help. He later died at Plateau Medical Center from his injuries.

At this point, deputies have not identified a motive.

Curry is being taken to the Southern Regional Jail.

The names of the victims have not yet been released.

Deputies are still at the scene of the crime.

OAK HILL, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Two people are dead and one critically injured after an early morning shooting.

Captain Sizemore with the Fayette County Sheriff's Department tells WSAZ.com it happened Saturday morning about 5 a.m along Toney Hollow Road near Oak Hill.

Deputies are on the scene of the shooting.

No word on a suspect.

Right now no names have been released.
