CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A benefit concert to help starving and underprivileged children in Kenya gets underway Sunday afternoon.
The goal is to raise money for the Tumaini Destitute Children's Home in Nyeri, Kenya. Concert organizers say this part of the country has been plagued by a decade-long drought.
The concert choir of the Appalachian Children's Chorus, the Martin Luther King Jr. Male Chorus, Rev. Ethel Caffie-Austin, liturgical dancer Kendalyn McDaniel and the nowHere Praise Team are all scheduled to perform.
A free-will offering will be taken up during the concert. All of the proceeds will go directly to helping the children and building up the church there.
NewsChannel 3's Brooks Jarosz will serve as the master of ceremonies.
