UPDATE: Elderly Man's Body Found in River; Name Released

CLAY COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- We now know the name of an elderly man who fell into the Elk River and died.

West Virginia State Police say Orvis Moore was reported missing Tuesday morning after he missed a doctor's appointment.

Trooper's began to search the area around Moore's home in the Duck community of Clay County.

They found his body a short time later in the river near his home.

Troopers say it appears Mr. Moore was cutting his grass when he fell into the river and drowned.

He was 86-years-old.

CLAY COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- West Virginia State Police say they are investigating the death of a man after he was found in the Elk River in Clay County.

The body of the elderly man was found near the community of Duck about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Troopers say they believe the man was mowing his grass when he fell into the water and drowned.

The man's name has not been released.
