KANAWHA COUNTY, W. Va. (WSAZ) – Food, fairs, music and competition – it was everywhere this weekend in Kanawha County.

Whether it was Summerfest, Sportsfest or the county fair, I gave the locals and vacationers alike the chance to fight for the end of summer.

It also gave businesses the chance to take in some more money from people who are hundreds of miles from home.

"We come all the way back here just for Summerfest! Every year, we've done it for years," Pat Edwards, Florida resident said.

But the biggest boost to the local economy is Sportsfest.

The Charleston CVB says it brings in more than $1 million in just the few days it’s here.

"Personally, we love West Virginia. The people are great, the hotels are great, very receptive to us being here," Mike Bartolomeo, owner of out of North Carolina said. "The venue is great as far as spectating because the course is down here and everybody can stand and get a really good shot at what's going on down there."

Locals, businesses and out-of-towners – all dancing to the tune of spending cash or cashing in.

"We're happy to be in West Virginia," Edwards said.
