CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Marshall fans from across the Kanawha Valley came out Thursday night to "Paint the Capitol City Green!"
Doc Holiday, members of the Thundering Herd Football team, cheerleaders, dance team, the band and Marco spent time at the Embassy Suites with a sold-out crowd of 500 for the annual tradition!
It's a particularly exciting year for the Thundering Herd because the team is ranked, in some polls, in the top 25.
The importance of the Kanawha Valley is not lost in anyone at Marshall especially it's leader Dr. Stephen Kopp.
"Our footprint is a lot bigger than a lot of people would think. Of course, our primary mission is West Virginia and West Virginia students and we consider the Kanawha Valley and the Advantage Valley area and beyond very important to us as a University."
Marshall opens its season a week from Saturday at Miami of Ohio.
