UPDATE 8/7/12 @ 10 p.m.
KANAWHA COUNTY, W. Va. (WSAZ) -- Police in Charleston are looking for two suspects from a July robbery.

And the plea comes on the celebration of National Night Out -- a time for kids and adults alike to meet and greet the people who serve and protect.

But sometimes, those who serve come calling back on the community for a hand.

"Well, we can't do it alone," Charleston Police Lt. Shawn Williams said. "A lot of people think, across the city, that we can fight crime and we can solve crimes all by ourselves. And it starts with the residents of the city, and without that partnership we just can't do it. So, what they provide is a vital call to what we're trying to do in keeping everybody safe."

And now they’re asking for the community’s help to find Ronald Tinsley and Bryan Pugh after a man was attacked and robbed on Elm Street in Charleston’s West Side on July 25.

We went up and down the street asking neighbors if they saw anything but everyone refused, saying they were afraid of being labeled a snitch.

And that’s why both the community and the police say events like National Night Out are so necessary.

"It helps to work out the issues that people cannot be afraid to know they can come to somebody and say, well I need this type of help because someone is causing issues," Charleston resident Frances McElrath said.

"There are different ways that people can reach out and help," Williams said. "They can do it anonymously. They can do it by letter, email, a telephone call. We're never going to burn a person with information they provide. And, again, it's such a vital call and we just can't do it alone."

If you know the whereabouts of the robbery suspects, you’re asked to call the Charleston Police Department.
