CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Police say three women were behind a rash of counterfeit cash that hit several Charleston businesses.

Dominic Martinez and Takema Moses were arrested and charged with counterfeiting, but police say a third suspect is still on the run.

They say Genice Lain was also involved in the scheme and currently has three outstanding state warrants for counterfeit-related crimes.

"It just creates a lack of trust in the community for businesses," Charleston Police Detective Jeremy Tate said. "It takes time for businesses to examine each bill that comes through the register.

Police say the women passed off fake $100 bills to stores like Gino's along Lee Street West and the Rite Aid in Kanawha City, among others.

They were caught on camera and identified through store surveillance video.

If you come across counterfeit in your own wallet, police say you should turn it in to them immediately. They say you should not bring it to the bank.
