ORIGINAL STORY 11/8/11
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man from Charleston faces decades in prison after police say he sexually assaulted three children. Charleston Police arrested William Dale Clere Tuesday evening. He faces two counts of sexual abuse by a parent/guardian, two counts of child abuse and indecent exposure.

"I'm sorry for the stuff that supposedly happened," Clere said.

Clere may be sorry, but police say it's what he did that is so disturbing. Officers say he sexually and physically abused three children. WSAZ.com has decided not to be specific -- to protect the identity of the children involved.

According to the criminal complaint, Clere is accused of numerous allegations, including forcing one child to watch him and his wife have sex. He's also accused of grabbing another boy's genitals and twisting them violently. Another time, police say children claimed Clere even tried to force them to eat feces.

"These allegations are disturbing," Charleston Police Sgt. Bobby Eggleton said. "To force a child to eat feces, I can't even understand that. To the general public and all of us standing here, it's unfathomable to think a child would be submitted to something like that."

A Kanawha County magistrate has ordered Clere to have no direct contact with any children. During his arraignment, Clere only said he was sorry and he'll do whatever is right to get out of this.

As for Clere's wife, police have not charged her with any crime, but say they're still investigating. Clere is in jail on a $250,000 bond.
