Charleston Police: Wallet Thief in Custody Thanks to Tip

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Charleston Police say they arrested a man suspected of credit card theft.

Officers identified and arrested James Dowd after receiving a tip. Dowd was recently released from prison in Ohio and staying at the men's shelter in Charleston.

He was arraigned Tuesday night.

Detectives say Dowd stole a woman's wallet while she was shopping at the Kroger store in Kanawha City.

The incident happened about 1 p.m.

Police say a short time later, Dowd used her credit card at several locations in Charleston.
