CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Dozens of students headed to the courtroom Wednesday to learn first hand how the legal system works.
30 students from Stonewall Jackson Middle School took part in a mock trial in Circuit Court Judge Duke Bloom's courtoom at the Kanawha County Courthouse.
The trial involved a teenager charged with malicious wounding. The teenager is on trial for stabbing another man, but the suspect claims it was self-defense.
The court gave the students the topic and then they had to write the script for the trial and come up with all the evidence to present to the mock jury.
