DUNBAR, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- City of Dunbar officials are wanting to take matters into their own hands instead of waiting on the court system.

They said that any reports filed currently with city officials must go through the Kanawha County court system.

Council members said by the time they submit a report, it will be another few months before anything happens.

On Tuesday night, council members submitted an application for a home-rule option so the city of Dunbar can make decisions instead of having to go through the county.
