KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A community is coming together this weekend to show support for a teenager who was seriously hurt in a car crash.

They are rallying behind Hunter Canterbury who is still in the intensive care unit.

Canterbury was the passenger in a car that crash on I-79 near Big Chimney on November 13th.

Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies say the driver, James Hoover, died during the crash.

Saturday, a fundraiser was held at Elkview Middle School where Canterbury is a student.

The community is praying that Hunter makes a full recovery, and is hoping that money raised will help his family pay for mounting medical costs.

Two big items sold were t-shirts that say "Canterbury Strong" and bracelets that say "Praying for Hunter."

Hunter's family tells fundraiser organizers that he is making great progress.
