kANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – The driver of a semi that jackknifed on I-79, spilling the trucks load of gravel, has been cited for the accident.
The crash shutdown both northbound lanes, and one southbound lane of the highway between the Elkview and Clendenin exits late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office says the driver of the truck, Bienia Wlodzimierz, 58, of Ronkonkma, NY told deputies he lost control on the wet road and was unable to regain control.

He was not injured in the crash. The truck and trailer were owned by Delco Transport Incorporated of Howell, NJ.
Metro 911 dispatchers tell WSAZ.com there were no injuries in the incident, which snarled traffic for more than three hours.
The tractor-trailer jackknifed between the Elkview and Clendenin exits about 10:30 Wednesday night, spilling diesel fuel, oil, and a load of gravel in the roadway.
The accident happened near the 15-mile marker. It was reported about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Dispatchers said there is considerable gravel on the roadway and extensive damage to the guardrails.
There is no word on possible injuries.
