SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A traffic problem with bumper-to-bumper backups has been causing drivers headaches -- and the Department of Highways (DOH) concern.

An informational public meeting will take place Tuesday evening to address the ongoing congestion on Jefferson Road.

DOH officials say they'll present possible solutions to the problem and solicit public feedback.

Cathy Poston takes the drive every day to visit her daughter and granddaughter, who live along Jefferson Road.

"If you come around five o'clock, you'll pay a real price for trying to get out of your car or getting in your car," Poston said.

Poston says she's seen the congestion cause accidents and road rage among drivers, making her daughter consider selling the property.

"There's just way too much traffic," she said.

The meeting is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the South Charleston Recreational Center along Jefferson Road.

DOH officials say they also want to cut down on traffic in Southridge by connecting Trace Fork with RHL Boulevard.

But they say they can't tackle that project until the Jefferson Road problem is solved.
