UPDATE: Supreme Court Files Complaint Against Kanawha Family Court Judge

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The Supreme Court has filed a complaint against a Kanawha County Family Court Judge after he was charged with battery.

The Supreme Court Administrator tells WSAZ.com now the judicial commission will decide if Mark Snyder will be disciplined.

"Judges are held to a higher standard and they should be," Supreme Court director of administration Steve Canterbury said. "After all, they make judgements every day that affect the money, the lives and the freedom of many people."

Snyder was charged with battery after an incident Monday night at CAMC General in Charleston.

According to the criminal complaint, Snyder was visiting a friend when he approached a nurse.

Snyder asked why his friend was not being cared for and requested that she provide him with medication and make up his bed.

The nurse told Snyder that she would talk to the patient when according to the criminal complaint, Snyder grabbed her by the arm and tried to pull her down the hall.

The nurse jerked away, and that's when Snyder is accused of getting in her face and yelling at her.

Snyder was asked to leave, but he refused.

Security guards had to escort him out of the hospital.

Snyder was arrested and charged with battery on health care providers and emergency medical service personnel.

Snyder was in his office Tuesday morning, but he declined to comment.

CAMC is also not commenting on the situation.
