CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Customers who pay their phone bill to FiberNet will soon be writing checks to nTELOS.

The Public Service Commission of West Virginia issued an order Friday approving the sale of FiberNet to nTELOS for $170 million.

Conditions of the sale include:

  • FiberNet must waive early termination fees for current customers for the first 90 days after closing.

  • nTELOS must spend at least $40 million over the next three years on maintenance and extension of its West Virginia Facilities.

  • nTELOS and FiberNet must advise the West Virginia Division of Homeland Security, Emergency Management and any affected 911 centers of a service interruption or outage.

The order also requires both FiberNet and nTELOS use their best efforts to provide prompt response to requests for assistance by Commission Staff on behalf of customers.
