CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- More than a dozen children battling cancer gathered Friday night for a special celebration.
The Miracle Bear Celebration kicked off for the second consecutive year. The event was created to bring holiday cheer to families fighting pediatric cancer.
Brett Wilson, founder of the Miracle Bear Celebration, is a cancer survivor himself and knows how important the celebration is to the children and their families.
"If I can do a positive thing and God's been good to me and kept me here for this purpose and if I can take what he has done and help other people, that's all that matters to me," Wilson said. "Putting smiles on these kids' faces."
Each child at the event got their own special Build a Bear to commemorate the event. The children also got to visit with their favorite superhero.
