High Water Closes Roads in Parts of Kanawha and Putnam Counties

PUTNAM/KANAWHA COUNTIES, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- High water has closed roadways throughout the region Friday night, including in parts of Putnam and Kanawha counties.

In Putnam County, County Road 5 (Manilla Creek Road) and County Road 27 (Hizer Creek Road) are reported closed, according to the West Virginia Department of Transportation.

In Kanawha County, W.Va. 4 in Clendenin is closed in the area of the Save-a-Lot store and Columbia Gas. Multiple transformer power lines are reported down in that area.

Metro 911 is reporting high water in the 4000 block of Cabin Creek Road in the Rhonda area of Kanawha County.

High water also is reported in the area of Sutphin Drive and Lens Creek Road in Marmet, according to Metro 911. The agency is reporting high water at Fairlawn Avenue and Capehart Lane in Institute.

Elsewhere in Kanawha County, Elk River Road North at Cobb Ave is expected to be shut down for several hours due to power lines down, Metro 911 reports.
