CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- An attempted break-in was caught on camera. Charleston Police are looking for two men after they tried to break into homes on Cliffview Drive and Temple Street.
"At first I couldn't believe it just because it was almost like they were very blatant on trying to come straight into the house," homeowner Derek Walker said.
Walker said this happened last week about 3 a.m. He said he and his family were asleep when all of a sudden his doorbell rang.
"When the doorbell rang, my wife and I at first weren't sure if we had really heard what we heard, you know the doorbell woke us up," he said. "So when we checked the footage we realized there was someone at the house and that's when we contacted police."
Police believe the pair left Walker's home and went around the corner to a home along Temple Street. They were able to get in but left after the homeowner caught them in the kitchen.
Walker said after he found out he had this video, not only did he give it to police but printed out flyers to hand out to neighbors. He said this is a safe and quiet neighborhood where everyone looks out for each other. In fact, his cameras caught someone breaking into a neighbor's car.
"I think it's good to have this kind of stuff so you can turn it into police and say we're not going to let riff-raff take over the neighborhood," he said.
If anyone has any information, you're asked to call Charleston Police.
