Fire Damages House in Dunbar

DUNBAR, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Firefighters are still trying to figure out what caused a fire at a home in Dunbar.

The fire was reported at 1:15 p.m. Thursday at a house on Fairlawn Avenue at 21st Street.

Firefighters tell flames were showing when they arrived on scene, but they were able to get the fire out in about 15 minutes.

Investigators say they believe the fire started in the kitchen.

Firefighters say the kitchen and living room were damaged by the fire.

Route 25 was closed in the area until fire crews left the scene.

Kanawha County 911 Dispatchers tell when firefighters arrived flames were showing.

Dunbar Police say Route 25 is shut down at 22nd Street. Drivers should avoid this area.
