I-77 Reopens after Tractor Trailer Fire

UPDATE 12/17/13 @ 4:00 p.m.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- I-77 is back open to traffic after a semi hauling tires caught fire along the interstate.

The fire was reported about 1:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes between the 35th Street Bridge and Belle exits.

The driver of the truck was able to get out safely.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The northbound lanes of Interstate 77 in Kanawha County are closed after a tractor trailer fire.

The fire was reported about 1:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes between the 35th Street Bridge and Belle exits.

911 dispatchers tell WSAZ.com a semi is on fire.

The West Virginia Department of Transportation says the truck is carrying tires.

Northbound traffic is being diverted off the interstate and onto Kanawha Boulevard.
