CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- More than a decade after her death, authorities say they have a new lead in the brutal murder of a Charleston woman.

Police say 41-year-old Terry Clark was murdered in her Lewis Street apartment in 1999. They later found her body left naked on the side of Route 119 near Walton.

Since then, police have been on the hunt for her killer. All efforts had come up short -- until now. Authorities say a major breakthrough in the case has led them to a person of interest.

"It's great for the family to provide some closure," Kanawha County Prosecutor Mark Plants said. "But it's still at the very beginning. Every investigation starts and it continues."

Authorities say that person is currently in jail in Tennessee on an unrelated charge. They're not releasing his name until formal charges are filed in the case.
