KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A new Kanawha County School Board president was named, and the newest member of the Kanawha County School Board was sworn in Monday afternoon.

The board voted to name Robin Rector the new school board president. She will serve a two-year term.

Rector said she looks forward to making some big changes.

"I will continue to talk, speak and move us forward with technology," Rector said. "Technology has always been an interest of mine, certainly in deploying that with our learners ... I think our community is asking for it in our workforce, so I will continue pushing that through with our learners."

Rector is taking over for Pete Thaw, who recently stepped down from the position at the end of his term.

Also, Ryan White took the oath of office as the school board's newest member.
