Kanawha County Schools to Reopen Tuesday

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Schools in Kanawha County will be back open as of Tuesday, January 21.

After more than a week off, students will return to the classroom. Schools closed after the chemical MCHM leaked into the Elk River, Thursday, January 9.

School officials say bottled water will be available to students until the end of Thursday, January 24.

Food is being prepared without tap water.

Inspections have been done by the Kanawha County Health Department, and officials say all protocols were followed. The West Virginia Department of Education assisted with the inspections.
