CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The holiday hustle-and-bustle may be grinding to a halt for some, but others were out in full force looking for those last-minute buys -- and finding it surprisingly stress free.

"It was good because there wasn't much traffic," shopper Bud Botkins said.

Workers at the Sam's Club in Charleston were busy as elves, helping customers make their lists and check them twice before sending them home to celebrate.

"There was no rush today ... it was great," Emma Settle said.

Although many people like to frown upon holiday procrastinators, last-minute shoppers told WSAZ.com they may have gotten the last laugh by enjoying light crowds and good deals.

"I found some great things that I was looking for price-wise," Jen Spencer of St. Albans said. "Some of the retailers are having 60 to 75 percent off."

But Della Burke and her two daughters didn't come out to buy presents or find bargains. She says shopping on Christmas Eve is a bonding experience, even if it means spending a little extra money in the holiday spirit.

"They get everything ...even things I do not want," Burke said with a laugh.

Some shoppers find procrastinating so much fun, they've made a habit out of it.

"Each year I tell myself I won't be that person, but I've actually made it a little ritual," Spencer said. "I kind of enjoy it, you know?"
