Lawmakers Attend Prayer Breakfast in Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Before the debate started at the capitol Thursday morning, West Virginia lawmakers took time to pray.

The 2013 Louderback Leadership Prayer Breakfast was held at the Christ Church United Methodist in Charleston.

During the annual event, Bishop Sandra Steiner Ball urged lawmakers to work with their communities and churches to eliminate poverty.

Bishop Steiner Ball believes lawmakers are starting to be open to hearing ideas.

"We need to be in discussion with our legislature about the expansion of Medicaid, about providing health care services more broadly in our area, about working with them with education in our schools," Bishop Steiner Ball said.
