CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Greener days are ahead for a busy stretch of road in Kanawha City.
The Kanawha City Community Association has planned out a multimillion dollar project to revamp MacCorkle Avenue.
They're adding trees, plants, street parking and other neighborhood-friendly features.
Association leaders say they hope the efforts will boost business there and encourage people to stay rather than just pass through.
"We want to green it up, to make it look more presentable and slow traffic down," Mike Clowser said. "To make it a destination area for people who want to come walk, bike, shop, and go to our restaurants."
The community association is holding a public meeting Thursday night to go over the plans and ask for public feedback.
It will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday at Westminster Church in Kanawha City.
