CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man is behind bars after police say he broke into his girlfriend's house using a grill's propane tank.
Johnny Chandler, 40, of Charleston was charged with burglary after he stole his girlfriend's purse.
Police say Chandler got into an argument with his girlfriend over the purse, and became locked out of the house. He busted his way in using a propane tank from a gas grill, according to the criminal complaint.
Once inside, officers say Chandler began to choke the victim, even shoving his fingers into her mouth, leaving cuts on the inside.
She was eventually able to get away after spraying Chandler in the face with mace. Chandler fled the scene before police arrived. He was later arrested.
He remains in South Central Regional Jail.
