ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man was arrested, and another man is on the run after a police pursuit near the St. Albans Moose Lodge, according to information from St. Albans Police.
Keith Hubbard, 38, of St. Albans, was charged with fleeing on foot. Christopher Matheny, 40, of Belle, W.Va., is wanted for grand larceny and possession of a stolen vehicle. Matheny was on parole for a second-degree robbery conviction in West Virginia and fleeing in a vehicle.
The incident happened about 9:15 p.m. Thursday when an officer tried to stop a Pontiac Grand Am for defective equipment. The driver refused to stop, and a foot pursuit ensued near railroad tracks in the former town of Jefferson.
Police say that car had been stolen just minutes before officers spotted it being driven in the area of the pursuit.
Hubbard was arrested after he rolled down a hill into a resident's backyard. Matheny was able to get away.
Anyone with information about Matheny's whereabouts is asked to call St. Albans Police or one's local 911 agency.
