Man Charged in Burglary at Elkview Apartment

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man is facing criminal charges after a burglary in Kanawha County.

Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies were called to an apartment on Wise Acres Drive in Elkview after a man found someone inside his home.

According to a news release, Kevin Ray Madison tried to hold the suspect until investigators go on scene, but he was able to get away.

However, when deputies got on scene they found the suspect in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

Brett Alan Yates, 27, of Elkview, told investigators earlier in the night he had broken into this same apartment and stole several electronic items, according to the release. Deputies say Yates also told them he was back at the apartment to take more.

Deputies found the stolen items at a home on Bigley Avenue in Charleston.
