CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A Wayne County man was sentenced to prison for illegally possessing a firearm.

Keith Brian Clark, 47, of East Lynn, pleaded guilty last October to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Investigators say that on June 18, 2012, Clark illegally possessed a 9-millimeter pistol near Harts in Lincoln County.

WSAZ reported on June 18, 2012, Clark was arrested for attempted armed robbery. Investigators say he tried to break-in and rob the Logan Bank and Trust in Harts before it opened. They say he was trying to get through security doors at the bank. Clark was caught a short time later by state police.

Clark also had a weapon on him at the time of the attempted robbery. He was not permitted to possess a weapon because of a 2004 armed robbery conviction.

Wednesday, Clark was sentenced to two years in prison for the gun charge.
