ELKVIEW, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man has been arrested after deputies say he stole an elderly man's car.
Anthony Konopinski, 21, was arrested in Brooklyn Heights, Ohio near Cleveland Wednesday morning.
Deputies say they started looking for Konopinski after he stole an 84-year-old man's car at Kroger at Crossing's Mall in Elkview, Tuesday.
The man had just refueled his 2001 Nissan Sentra when it was stolen.
Police caught up with Konopinski in Cleveland late Tuesday night. Deputies say he led them on a chase, but was able to get away.
The car was severely damaged during the pursuit and broke down a short time later.
Police in Brooklyn Heights showed up to help and found out the car had been stolen.
Konopinski then led police on a foot chase but was quickly arrested.
In Ohio, he's facing a long list of charges including resisting arrest, receiving stolen property and drug possession.
In Kanawha County, he'll be charged with grand larceny once he returns.
It happened Tuesday around 9:45 a.m. at Kroger at Crossing's Mall in Elkview, West Virginia.
The Kanawha County Sheriff's Office says an 84-year-old man was just refueled his 2001 Nissan Sentra, and was paying at the cashier's window, when his vehicle was stolen.
Deputies were able to check the store's surveillance footage and identified the suspect as Anthony Konopinski, 21, of Seville, Ohio.
A warrant was issued for Konopinski. When he is caught, he will be charged with grand larceny.
Deputies say Konopinski is also wanted out of Ohio for numerous charges.
Konopinski is believed to have ties to Morgantown and Logan, West Virginia.
