MARMET, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Marmet City Council met Monday night, addressing potential pay raises for city workers and considering a potential new business.

As it turns out, council members denied a 24-cent-an-hour raise for all city workers. Council members say they're already in the red when it comes to the city's budget, and they just can't come up with the money currently.

In other business during the meeting, the proposal for a new video-lottery parlor was brought before council.

Council members said they want to seek some legal advice before they move on with any further plans. That's because they say the proposed location is too close to another video lottery parlor.

According to county law, it has to be at least 2,000 feet away.
