Charleston Mother Pleads Guilty to Child Neglect

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A mother charged with child neglect was back in court Monday.
Aurelia Lewis pleaded guilty to child neglect causing serious bodily injury during a hearing in Kanawha County Circuit Court.
Police say Lewis was arrested after police found her 8-month-old son sleeping in a pile of pizza scraps. Her young daughter was so thirsty she tried to drink water from the toilet, according to police.
Lewis was arrested when she showed up at the room.
Police say she smelled of alcohol.
At the time of her arrest, her four kids were taken away by child protective services.
Lewis is scheduled for sentencing on October 25.
