I-64E Reopens After Multiple Vehicle Accident

UPDATE @ 7:40 a.m.
KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Interstate 64 is back open to traffic after a multiple vehicle accident.

The accident was reported just after 7 a.m. in the eastbound lanes between the Institute and Dunbar exits.

Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies say eight vehicles were involved in the accident and one person was taken to the hospital. Deputies are still investigating what caused the accident.

The eastbound lanes were closed for a short time while crews removed the vehicles from the road. Traffic is still backed up in the area.

911 dispatchers say at least four vehicles were involved, including a semi. No word on any injuries.

Right now, all eastbound lanes are closed at this time.
