UPDATE 1/2/13 @ 12:50 p.m.
ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The fire that sent a firefighter to the hospital has been ruled accidental.

The fire was reported at a home along College Circle about 10 p.m. Monday.

According to a news release, the owner of the home had hard wired several electric space heaters throughout the house because the main heating source was broken.

Firefighters say the homeowner used too large of wiring and too large of circuit breakers, causing them to overheat.

The two firefighters were hurt when they went inside the home to make sure everyone got out okay and the second floor collapsed under one of them.

The firefighter was taken to the hospital with a dislocated shoulder. He has since been released.
