POWELLTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A violent home invasion leads to a father behind bars and his son on the run.
Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies tell WSAZ.com it happened at about 11:45 p.m. Sunday.
They say two men forced their way into a woman's home in the Powellton area.
Once inside, one of the suspects pulled out a rifle and fired a shot - narrowly missing the woman.
He then hit the woman on the head with gun.
When the suspects found out deputies were on the way, they took off in a gold-colored minivan.
The woman was able to identify the suspects as David Edwards Sr., 49, of Montgomery and his son David "Bubby" Edwards Jr.
About 30 minutes later, deputies pulled the van over near Smithers.
David Edwards Sr. was taken into custody, but taken to a local hospital because he complained of a health condition.
Edwards Sr. has since been released and charged with wanton endangerment and nighttime burglary.
He is being held in the Southern Regional Jail on a $25,000 bond.
No charges have been filed against David "Bubby" Edwards Jr.
Deputies are looking to question Edwards Jr. about his role in the invasion.
They are giving him a chance to come forward before deciding whether to file criminal charges against him.
