It happened on MacCorkle Avenue in Marmet about 9:30 a.m.

Emergency responders say the driver of a red Pontiac G6 crossed the center line and hit a Jeep Wrangler head-on.

The Jeep was knocked onto the concrete barrier -- almost pushing it into oncoming traffic along the West Virginia Turnpike, which runs parallel to MacCorkle.

However, the driver who crossed the center line did not survive.

At the time you don't think, and once it's all over you collect yourself and you see a child's seat: you see everything going on, and it hits you that that guy's a father. There's a mother, brother, sister; things like that,” Marmet Fire Capt. Michael McGhee said.

The man who died was not wearing his seat belt. Investigators say it's still unclear what caused him to cross the center line.

His name is not being released until after his family is notified.

As for the other two men in the crash, they are expected to be OK.
