KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Plans to build a new Dollar General store in Rand are moving ahead.

Kanawha County commissioners have approved the closure of an alley in Rand to make way for the new store.

Commissioner Kent Carper said the total investment will be about $1 million and will provide between seven and 10 new jobs.

The closed area where the store is set to be built is a grass-covered alley that runs from Athens Avenue to the Carver Career Center.

There's no word yet on when construction is set to begin.
