Police Arrest Man in Connection with Burglary String; Search for Partner Continues

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Police have arrested one suspect in connection with a string of burglaries throughout Kanawha and Lincoln counties, and they're still looking for another.

Police say Cody Fuller, 26, of Charleston, burglarized about 15 homes during the past couple of months. They say he targeted homes in Charleston, South Charleston, St. Albans and Lincoln County.

"He got enjoyment and excitement from it," Detective C.E. Sharp said with the Charleston Police. "He liked to run from the police and he liked the chase."

And they say Fuller didn't act alone. They're still looking for another suspect, Josh Caudill, whom they say was his partner in crime.

Caudill is related to Fuller and lived near his house in the 1500 block of Sixth Avenue, according to police. Authorities recovered a wealth of stolen goods at the residence.

Police say the home has now been condemned for being in deplorable conditions. Investigators say they found human feces inside, and there had been no running water for about five months.

They say eight people had been living at the residence, including a 13-year-old boy. Another man who lived there, Mark Minchell, faces charges of child neglect.

Neighbor Chris Kelly said he watched as police surrounded the home earlier in the week.

"I didn't know how to react to it and then I realized what was going on," he said. I felt bad for the rest of the night for the situation that the kids were put in."

Police say the arrests should serve as a warning to all others who attempt to burglarize homes.

"We will continue to do this," Sharp said. "If you break into people's houses, we're never going to give up. We will piece it together and we will arrest you."

Fuller was apprehended in Huntington while having dinner at a mission there. Police say a pastor and several others at the mission had to forcibly detain him until authorities arrived.

If you know the whereabouts of Josh Caudill, you're asked to call Charleston Police.
