CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Three people are being charged in connection with the death of a man in Charleston.

Friday night, Martin Snodgrass, 51, went for a walk by the Kanawha River to collect aluminum cans, but never returned.

He was found in the river near Magic Island, Saturday morning.

Now, three people have been arrested.

Anthony Harriman and John Thurmond are being charged with 1st Degree Murder.

Erica Cogar is charged with accessory to the murder.

Harriman is from New Mexico and has only been in Charleston for five months.

The three were arraigned late Saturday night.

According to criminal documents, Harriman, Thurmond, and Cogar allege that Snodgrass attempted to sell them drugs and then ripped Cogar's shirt.

When Cogar yelled for help, Thurmond admitted to chasing down Snodgrass and beating him. Harriman confessed he then joined in, kicking and punching Snodgrass in the body and head.

The two men then threw Snodgrass in the river.

Cogar admitted she then helped change bandages on Thurmond's arms and disposed of them.

All three will have their preliminary hearings July 15th.

Harriman and Thurmond do not have bonds. Cogar is being held on a $100,000 cash only bond.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Police have arrested three people in connection with the death of Martin Snodgrass.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Police are investigating the death of a man from Charleston as a homicide.

Police say Martin Snodgrass, 51, was found in the Kanawha River near Magic Island around 2 p.m. Saturday.

They say Snodgrass was walking in that area Friday night around 11 p.m., collecting aluminum cans.

He was reported missing and failed to report to work Saturday morning.

Police say the circumstances at the crime scene lead them to believe Snodgrass' death was a homicide.

Detectives are interviewing witnesses and analyzing evidence from the scene.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ ) -- Charleston Police are investigating a body found near Magic Island on Saturday afternoon.

Police confirmed to WSAZ.com, the body is a white male. His name and identification aren't being released right now.

Police say it is being investigated as a suspicious death. They are treating it as a homicide and say they will know more pending the results of an autopsy.
