Pottery Studio Opens in Charleston
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A paint your own pottery studio has opened at the Southridge Shopping Center in Charleston.
The Pottery Place is expected to have a grand opening celebration on Sunday, January 13 from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. It's located in the former Pet Land location.
Customers can choose from more than 300 pottery pieces and then paint their masterpiece into a work of art. The studio supplies all of the tools and paints needed for the project.
The studio is opened 363 days a year, owner Laya Hutchison said. The studio is only closed on Christmas and Easter.
Hutchison tells WSAZ.com many families have made it a tradition to visit the studio on Thanksgiving.
"It's a unique thing," Hutchison said.
This is the fourth studio this family business has opened in two years. The other studios are located in Huntington, W.Va., Beckley W.Va. and Ashland, Ky.
The company employees about 40 people.
