Promotion Ceremony Recognizes Kanawha Sheriff's Officers

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A promotion ceremony Monday night honored 44 members of the law enforcement division of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.

It took place at the Kanawha County Courthouse and recognized the largest promotion group in history.

But that wasn't the only record broken Monday.

Deborah Walters became the first woman to attain the rank of captain in Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office history. She has been serving the county for 34 years and was quick to praise her co-workers.
