UPDATE 11/20/13 @ 4:12 p.m.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The debate over allowing medical marijuana in West Virginia is heating up at the state Capitol.

Wednesday, lawmakers took a look at a proposal. A bill was previously rejected before it reached a vote. Supporters are now hoping to change the minds of legislators.

Wednesday's meeting was to answer questions and re-introduce the possibility of a bill.

"This is the first time our legislators have had a chance to look at draft legislation. We have talked about everything in sort of an anecdotal way, in a less than necessarily real sense. Now, they've got something real, a real document," Delegate Don Perdue said.

Providing the bill proceeds, final recommendations will come out in early January.
